About the Event
The yoga room comfortably accommodates 10 mats. You will need to bring your own mat and a blanket. You may bring blocks and a yoga strap. The room is warm, but you may wear socks if necessary. We do not restrict people except you must be over 18.
You will get a gentle introduction to the most basic yoga postures and will leave the class feeling looser and relaxed. The benefits of yoga practise include an increase in flexibility, strengthening muscles and so decreasing your risk of injury. This is done by stretching and twisting in ways our day to day activities do not provide. Also stress levels are lowered, your fitness increases, your immune system is boosted and your mood improves.
Our class lasts an hour but the session is two hours to give socialble time for tea.
Naked yoga is said to have been practised since ancient times. In recent times naked yoga started in 1998 in New York and according to the press has become popular in other countries.
Naturists simply find being naked is more comfortable than being clothed. This is especially so when exercising. Our group is called East Sussex Naturists and we have been running naked yoga classes for about 18 months. It is not necessary to be a member of the ESN to participate in the naked yoga class. Most of us have been naturists much of our lives, but if you are new to social nudity there is nothing to fear. You will find that naturism is liberating!
