When a cat looks into a mirror he does not see himself, he is looking to see what is changing in the world around himself.
When you look into a mirror you see your projection – how you wish to be seen, not the person you really are.
This book ( The Mindful Poetry: Com-PASSION) is like a small Victorian treasure in a modern incarnation where the wonderful woodcuts are replaced by marvellous colour photographs from nature. Here is the poet as a painter. The narrative overrides our usual response to a picture replacing our own history entangled with the subject and overlays it with a realism – an inkling of what is really there.
The poems are a bit hypnotic and remind me of yoga practice. This is yoga for the mind to ground you when the mat has been taken away.
